CAL-Metalised Laminate Web-High-Gloss Mirror-Effect Premium Packaging Substrate
CAL-Metalised Laminate Web-High-Gloss Mirror-Effect Premium Packaging Substrate
CAL (Coated Aluminum Laminate) is a composite packaging web featuring a metallised film as its core functional component. Through a multi‑layer lamination process, the metallised film—characterised by its metallic surface—is integrated with polyolefin substrates (such as PE, PP, etc.) to form a multilayer structure that delivers both a distinctive metallic aesthetic and balanced physical properties. The metallised layer serves a dual function within the material system: it imparts a unique mirror‑like gloss and metallic texture to the finished package, while simultaneously providing effective shielding against oxygen, water vapour, and ultraviolet radiation.

Product Detail

Total thickness is configurable within a range of 300 μm to 425 μm, with web width fully customisable per customer requirements. The material surface has been corona‑pretreated to ensure optimal adhesion for subsequent printing or lamination processes. CAL supports a comprehensive suite of printing technologies, including letterpress, flexographic, screen, rotogravure, and hot/cold foil stamping, accommodating diverse brand design requirements.

Features

Barrier Performance and Structural Attributes

  • Metallised Aesthetics and Visual Performance-The defining differentiation of CAL originates from the rich and distinctive visual expression delivered by its metallised surface:

  • High‑gloss mirror effect-The metallised surface exhibits high gloss and specular reflectivity, imparting a pronounced metallic finish and a premium visual language to the final web that rapidly captures consumer attention at retail points of sale.

  • Colour expression and print adaptability-The metallic background (typically silver‑white) provides a unique foundational colour palette for packaging design, compatible with a broad range of colour systems to enhance overall visual impact. When transparent inks are applied, the metallic substrate manifests through the ink layer with a shimmering lustre, lending printed graphics enhanced three‑dimensionality and depth, thereby effectively elevating brand recognition.

  • Dynamic gloss and light‑reflection effects-The high‑gloss surface produces specular reflection under retail lighting conditions, delivering pronounced shelf visibility. As viewing angles and light incidence vary, the material surface exhibits dynamic gloss transitions, further amplifying the packaging's visual appeal and perceived quality.

Mechanical Performance and Process Compatibility

Protective Performance and Structural Integrity

The metallised structure within the CAL composite contributes not only to visual value but also serves a critical protective function. This construction provides effective shielding against oxygen, water vapour, and ultraviolet radiation, significantly mitigating the risk of product degradation caused by oxidation, moisture ingress, or photo‑induced reactions, thereby supporting quality maintenance throughout the shelf‑life period.

In terms of mechanical properties, CAL features a multi‑layer composite construction that integrates the metallised film with high‑strength plastic substrates, imparting excellent tear strength and impact resistance to the web. This ensures effective preservation of packaging container integrity throughout filling, stacking, and transportation phases. The material's flexibility ensures smooth operation on automated high‑speed tube‑forming and filling lines, while accommodating diverse customised or irregular packaging configurations.
